Choice of Moment: 3 Panel Comic Strips
In this assignment I was tasked to select three moments from one episode of the TV show Atlanta transform into 3 panel comics. The episode I chose is "Juneteenth".

Character Building, Facial Expressions & Body Language
The task was to design two characters, and then create a comic including only one of them, on the phone with the other, where they can only use the words/phrases "Yes, No, Of course, Uh huh, Okay, Fine, Yeah"

My Investigation:
How can I depict Mothman, a cryptic creature originating in Point Pleasant West Virginia, in my work? Mothman's hometown holds a Mothman festival every year and maintains a museum about him. I chose Mothman for my investigation because I love mysteries and the supernatural. Mothman's already existing legend, and blanks for development, made him a prime character to build upon for my investigation. I connect personally to Mothman because he is a supernatural creature living in a regular town. He represents a feeling of having more potential than the place you live.
I experimented with presenting Mothman in many different styles, exploring different versions of Mothman, and expanding upon his character and personality while still representing his original legend and origins. I also revised two of my artworks to make them stronger while still maintaining their core concepts after gaining more practice with depicting Mothman. A miniseries within my investigation further develops his imagined species.

My Investigation:
How can I synthesize my experiences and interests growing up, as well as hopes for the future, with marketing both of the self and of products that are sold to people to define them?
Above are the initial sketches for each of the five dolls. The first two represent the past, the third represents the present, and the last two represent the future.
The mascot and logo for the imagined toy company that is selling the dolls.
A digital mockup of the first doll's box.
The box art for the first of the five dolls, Pluto May. She represents me in elementary school.
The box art for Eerie Woods, the doll that represents me in middle school.
The box art for Saturn Cyber, the doll that represents high school/ present me.
The box art for Reef Whimsy, the doll that represents a potential college me/ the version of myself that I can imagine existing in the future.
The box art for Ink Unknown, the doll that represnts the part of my future thats too far away to imagine.
The box background art for Pluto May.
The box background art for Eerie Woods.
The box background art for Saturn Cyber.
The box background art for Reef Whimsy.
The box background art for Ink Unknown.
My goal is to create detailed, fantastical versions of myself based on different times in my life in the form of dolls in packaging to explore the ways I have changed as a person over time and the ways that capitalism affects identity.
Final Works:
Installation + extras:
The installation was intended to capture a chaotic and frenzied workspace. Environmentally storytelling about the artist who had designed the dolls for the company. (which reflected my journey completing them for the class)

I created a simplified image of each of the characters which I then pressed onto pins for people to take when they visited.
Original Characters

Fruit club is a work in progress comic about a mystery in Eclipse Academy, a high school for magical monsters far out in space. It centers around a young nonbinary teenager named Lemon who loves to explore and is determined to learn more about the abandoned basement floors of the school they attend. In the process they team up with their best friends Strawberry and Cherry and meet a large cast of other characters that attend the school.

Zombie & Bea

Both Images above are pen + highlighter over a collaged background.
Zombie & Bea is a work in progress comic about Earth in the year 2040. A quick spreading zombie plague has swept the globe and only a few human settlements remain. Due to massive shutdowns of power grids and new solutions needing to be found to navigate the dangerous outdoors, many of these settlements have become cowboy-like. They opt for horses over cars to more easily herd zombies away from civilization and not be caught by them. The comic centers around two characters, Bea, a reliable cowgirl, and Zombie, a nonbinary person with a strange condition where they have been infected by the zombie virus but have not yet lost their mind. In a dangerous misunderstanding, Bea nearly kills Zombie before realizing that they could talk. The two then quickly became adventuring buddies, seeking a cure or treatment for Zombie so they don't decay further.

Havik
Havik was invented for an assignment at the National High School Game Academy in which art track students were tasked with inventing and building a world to be used as the setting for an interactive game. Each student made a pitch and then worked in groups where one member's idea was selected. My world, Havik was selected to be expanded on by my group.

Havik is a world in which many different species developed sentience at the same time and became very technologically advanced. Ryder, the main character of this world, lives in Janex, the most technologically advanced city in the world and a major research hub. The city is overbearing and authoritarian, often harming its citizens. One of the major research facilities, Halcreum Labs, recently discovered a resource that could change everything, magic. Ryder strives to find this research and give it to the citizens of Janex.
Ryder was born in Janex and is well versed in the city’s patterns. They engage in a few online subcultures associated with the city and occasionally attend meetups with teenagers who are also interested in tech, hacking, and electronic based fashion.

Sparks and Roses
Sparks & Roses (working title) is a visual novel about magical girls in a zombie apocalypse. These characters were originally created to fit into a world created by Strawbearry Stabwound on youtube for a contest (see below). Unfortunately due to outside factors, the visual novel I had been planning to submit could not be completed in time. These characters are now planned to be repurposed for a new story.
Sparks & Roses centers around two magical not-exactly-girls trying their best to save the world from apocalypse.
Princess Metamorphosis
Princess Metamorphasis is a visual novel that was imagined, written, illustrated, and almost completed in under 12 hours. It was created for Arlington High School's annual Hackathon with the goal of helping a local community member in mind. This game was made by myself and my brother to help educate young people about recycling. By combining a fun kid friendly premise (magical girls) with educational content we hoped to inspire kids and tweens to think more about recycling and their community.

Seeds & Spells

Seeds & Spells was a game pitched and conceptualized at the National High School Game Academy in 2023. Although not brought to fruition, the concept art I made for the project remains. The game would have been a mobile tower defense and farming fusion, themed around a witch casting spells to protect her garden.

The Practice Room

Cozy Quarrel is an RPG Maker game that I developed for Winter Melon Jam 2022. It was a 48 hour game jam with a 24 hour extension with deducted points. In that time I not only created Cozy Quarrel but also learned RPG Maker from scratch. The game is an RPG that centers around 4 drink themed characters having a pillow fight over a drink cozy.

Pillow KO
Pillow KO is a fast paced fighting game created for the one week long lightning round at NHSGA. The team was tasked with making a game based on PunchOut, the classic arcade game. I worked as one of two artists and was in charge of character design, concept art, the player sprite animations, and the background. The game centers on two sisters who are having a pillow fight at a sleepover.

Monotony is an eye tracking psychological horror game produced for the National High School Game Academy over the course of four weeks. It centers around an overtired college student who is being plagued by eldritch horrors haunting their vision. The player is tasked with completing boring everyday objectives while not looking at the colorful monsters invading their screen. I worked as one of two artists on the project. I created the sprites, animation, a font, and logos, as well as collaborated with my co-artist on the concept art. Won Best Visual Gameplay at NHSGA.

Style Guide for the project as well as some of the initial sprites.
Animated monster parts that could be later collaged together for the avoidable horrors.
Normal and corrupted pop-ups for the email reply minigame.
